I understand this may be a bit late to this conversation, however, I have worked for a juice business that uses Norwalk Juicers for made to order juices to quite some success (and then use larger X1 type machines for wholesale etc). I am creating my own juice business on this plan as well. Although it must be said that the Norwalks are not meant for commercial juicing and long periods of juicing at a time. Anyone else been using them? or any feedback on them at all?
The norwalk is a huge pain to use. It would be very difficult to run a profitable made to order juice business with it. And like you said, it is not rated for commercial use. Most health departments will not approve its use since it doesnāt have NSF certification.
Definitely go for the goodnature M-1 over the norwalk. The M-1 is specifically made for made-to-order pressed juice in a commercial environment.
Are these made to order beverages being sold at room temp? How has the feedback from the customers been? @VirtueJuiceBar please weigh in as well. I have been assuming that chilled enhanced the experience but I am open to hear what your experience has been.
Hey Andy, welcome to the community! As it relates to feedback from customers at Virtue, thereās never been a complaint related to juice temperature. We āharvestā produce straight from our refrigerator into the X1-Mās for made-to-order juice. We donāt juice over ice but we offer ice to anyone who wants it. Those who ask for ice are few and far between. The resulting temperature is not ice cold from the mini but itās not room temperature either - itās in between and itās been good. Hope this helps!
Thank you kindly for the reply. I will surely try this out
@VirtueJuiceBar Hey Tom! I am in the process of building a juice truck. You have set the bar for āmade to orderā Great work. In you opinion if I ran 2 m-1 juicers, would you recommend using a custom sink setup as you have in your store? If so, would you mind sharing your contact for the custom build?
As always thank you so much for sharing your experience and wisdom.
Andy
Hi Andy,
Thank you for your compliments. In my opinion, not having set up a juice truck before, I would still plan for a custom sink set up - at the very least have water on one side and waste/compost on the other. It will make your flow faster and cleaner. Juicing gets messy quick. Having water close by with a spray nozzle and good drainage makes a big difference. I can check with my fabricator to understand his status. Send me a dm with your contact info and Iāll be in touch. Quick question - where are you located?
Best regards,
Tom
Do you know the the percentage of customers who purchase cold-pressed vs made to order? Iāve been toying with this idea for years, but cannot stray from cold pressed and just push education.
